and Printed Textiles ED 7685C 01
This course is an introduction and overview to a broad range of traditional
and experimental fabric design techniques to create pattern, design
and images for use with students of all ages. Techniques may include
batik, vat dying, direct application painting with thickened dyes
and a variety of printing techniques. The course reviews materials,
preparation and finishing to introduce you to these processes. Discussions
consider how to develop these techniques into collaborative student
projects for various ages relating to other subject areas. Concepts
in the course can be adapted for application into large-scale student
group wall hangings or painted floor cloths. Course content applicable
to K-12 art teachers as well as any teacher interested in direct,
hands-on approaches and craft-based methods of reaching a range of
students, including students with special needs. No previous experience
needed.

Ceramic
Tile and Mosaics,lev 1 ED 6020AC 01 Create large and small-scale
ceramic mosaic constructions through the use of line drawings, freehand
sketches, slide transfers or with computer assistance. Learn techniques
such as plaster mold castings for tile replication opportunities,
the use of plastic patterns or one-of-a-kind fabrications. Mounting
and hanging are covered as well. Content open to all teachers with
an interest in producing tiles; application to classroom use is considered.

Storytelling
across the Curriculum ED 5707C 01
Explore classroom applications of creative storytelling and the dramatic
use of this art form to enhance a range of subjects across the curriculum.
Looking at plot, narrative, structure and character, participants
discover the oral and written traditions of storytelling, mythology,
folklore and drama through activities and engaging exercises designed
for classroom use. Multicultural tales and other examples consider
integration into social science, language arts, visual arts, movement,
math, science and music. Course may include guest speakers, basic
book project, storyboard activity and collaborative projects designed
for a wide range of students.

and the Creative Classroom ED 5540C 01 This class provides classroom
and art teachers with creative instructional strategies for regular
and special education pupils. Topics include integrating the visual
arts into the curriculum, art history, thematic units, exploring best
art practices and teaching methods, multimedia presentations, and
basic and advanced skill development through art.
